Today I had a couple great emails and opportunities. I've been spending a lot of time this week praying and thinking good intentions about my manuscript. I think it is a valuble story and that I'm a valuble writer for the Reform movement. So today I think I reaped the benefits of the prayers a little.
I got one email from a new/old friend who is a week away from her Mikvah. First I told her everything I could think about the mikvah experience. Then she emailed all the questions I hadn't answered and I answered all those questions. It is a great feeling to help someone as they are counting down the days to becoming a jew.
Another email I got was from a person just beginning to put her toe into the waters of Judaism. She found me through Amazon.com, where I have a list for those considering conversion. She asked me a ton of questions about Judaism--big picture things and funny things that I can appreciate. So I took her questions one by one and answered them. More importantly, I referred her to better resources than me.
AND I also found out that a co-worker lives another life as an author and speaker. I told her about my manuscript and the things I write about, we chatted a little Jew stuff.
It was, in the end, a lovely day. And NOW it is shabbat. Tomorrow morning my parents are coming up for a visit and my next shabbat is in Jerusalem. Can you beleive it? I'm going to be in Israel in ONE WEEK!
Leah, you are so very awesome!
