Missing Mezuzah

posted Sunday, 9 April 2006

Tonight I was leaving my house and notice something was missing on my doorpost.  There is now a white strip of foam tape where yesterday there was a mezuzah.  I don't know when it was removed or who removed it or what they did with it when they removed it.

I also think remove isn't a charged enough word.

Someone took my mezuzah, stole it, vandalized it.  Someone I share this building with, most likely, removed from my doorpost what marks this as a Jewish home.  To that person I say, "FUCK YOU YOU STUPID FUCKING MORON!  WHAT THE FUCK WHERE YOU THINKING?       Do you even know what you did, you little fucking prick?  It is mezuzah!  Did you do it out of ignorance or what?  Do you hate jews?  You hate jews enough to know what a mezuzah is and to come downstairs and rip it off my fucking door?  YOU FUCKING PRICK!  I am supposed to be preparing for fucking passover and you steal my MEZUZAH?  I put that up last year the day I moved in, right in the middle of passover.  My rabbi came over to help me hang it.  He helped me say the blessings and said he was so happy to start me off in my new place with a miztvah.  And there was a kosher scroll in it you little fuck.  DO you have any idea what a kosher scroll costs?  Do you even know what kosher means?  What is your fucking deal?  What... vandalizing the elevator hasn't been enough?  FUCK YOU YOU FUCKING ASSHOLE."

Or something like that.

I might also say... I don't know what else I'd say.  I was so angry that I was shaking with anger when I called Ronnie.  I could have hyperventilated and it has been years since I have been that angry.  Ronnie says the only answer is to hang another mezuzah, this time with hardware.  But what if that one is stolen?  The rest of the ones I have were gifts for my conversion.  At least the stolen one I bought for myself and while it had meaning, it wasn't a gift.  I have two that would be appropriate, but I'll be heartbroken if one of them is stolen.

Maybe I'll go to Rosenblum's tomorrow and buy a basic one to hang.  Sigh.
